Best Series to Binge on Netflix Watch During Lockdown

12 November 2020 - Posted in

What better time is there than another lockdown to catch up on all your favorite TV shows (if you didn’t already in our last lockdown) or start a new series to binge-watch on Netflix. To help you through this month and lockdown, we have put together Relocation PAs top picks for the best series to binge-watch on Netflix. Check them out below.

1. Queens Gambit

We at Relocation PA HQ have only just started watching this already know its going to be one we can’t stop watching. Luckily there are only 7 episodes to get though (we promise we do do some work) so if you are looking for something to watch but not take up your whole lockdown life, this would be the one for you!

The Queen's Gambit follows the life of an orphan chess prodigy. Beth Harmon who is played by Anya Taylor-Joy. During her quest to become the world's greatest chess player while struggling with emotional issues and drug and alcohol dependency. The story begins in the mid-1950s and proceeds into the 1960s. The series starts in a girl's orphanage where Beth meets Mr. Shaibel, the custodian of the orphanage, who teaches Beth her first chess lessons.

As was common during the 1950s, the orphanage dispenses daily tranquilizer pills to the girls, which turns into an addiction for Beth. A few years later, Beth is adopted by Alma Wheatley and her husband from Lexington, Kentucky. After being adopted and in her new home, Beth enrolls herself in chess tournaments even though she has no prior experience in tournaments. She wins many games and finally gets noticed by others and develops friendships with several people. Along the way, as Beth continues to win games and becomes more famous, she becomes more dependent on drugs and alcohol and starts to lose control of her life.

2. Ozark

We whizzed through all three seasons of Ozark and couldn’t recommend it enough to pass your time binge-watching during this lockdown. We promise it's worth it.

After a money-laundering scheme for a Mexican drug cartel goes wrong, financial advisor Martin "Marty" Byrde proposes to make amends by offering to set up a bigger laundering operation in the Lake of the Ozarks region of central Missouri. Marty suddenly relocates his family from Chicago to the remote summer resort community of Osage Beach Missouri. When the Byrdes arrive in Missouri, they become entangled with local criminals, including the Langmore and Snell families, and later the Kansas City Mafia.

Relocation PA Rating: 5/5 easily!

3. The Fall

If you havnt already seen this, it’s a MUST! You are massively missing out! The Fall is utterly fantastic and rather horrifying at the same time however it is by far one of the best series we have watched recently and suggest if anyone hasn’t seen it, go watch it now!

Superintendent Stella Gibson, a senior investigating officer who reviews investigations, is seconded to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to assess the progress of a murder investigation that has remained active for longer than 28 days. When it becomes apparent that a serial killer is on the loose, local detectives must work with Stella to find and capture Paul Spector, who is attacking young professional women in the city of Belfast. As time passes Stella's team works tirelessly to build a case but they are met with complications inside and outside the PSNI.

Relocation PAs rating: 5/5 hands down.

4. Emily in Paris

Ok bit different from the above three however one we did see the odd episode of. Not one we particularly got into but certainly one you should try and see what you think. Let us know!

Emily in Paris follows Emily, a driven 20-something American from Chicago who moves to Paris for an unexpected job opportunity. She is tasked with bringing an American point of view to a venerable French marketing firm. Cultures clash as she adjusts to the challenges of life in Paris while juggling her career, new friendships and love life.

5. Schitts Creek

This has been around for a bit on Netflix and with its 6th season about to start, there is plenty of binging to be had with it.

The wealthy Rose family— video store magnate Johnny played by the epic Eugene Levy, his wife and former soap opera actress Moira, and their spoiled adult children David and Alexis lose their fortune after being defrauded by their business manager. They are forced to rebuild their lives with their sole remaining asset: a small town named Schitt's Creek, which Johnny had bought for David as a joke birthday gift in 1991. The Roses relocate to Schitt's Creek, moving into two adjacent rooms in a run-down motel. As the family adjusts to their new lives, their well-to-do attitudes come into conflict with the more provincial residents of Schitt's Creek, including mayor Roland Schitt, his wife Jocelyn and the motel's manager Stevie Budd.
